A school bus driver accused of running over a pedestrian and damaging another car after the bus moved back blamed it on a student, saying the school boy accidentally hit the gear. But the court scoffed at his statement and fined him Dh1,500.

Objecting to the ruling, the driver appealed the sentence, insisting that it was the school boy’s fault as he has just stepped out of the bus and left the engine on for a while.

The appeals court upheld that sentence. Again he was not satisfied, deciding to resort to the Federal Supreme Court (FSC).

“The FSC upheld the ruling and fined the driver Dh1,500…the court dismissed his claims and charged him of negligence that led to the damage of a car and injury of a man,” the Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum said without mentioning where the accident took place.
