The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced a restaurant driver, who attempted to kiss a woman goodbye on her lips after helping her finding a taxi, to three months in jail followed by deportation.

According to the records, NM, 42, Lebanese, took the metro to a relative’s house but as she got off at the wrong station, she needed help to find a taxi.

“It was 10pm when I got off the metro in the Jumeira Lakes area. As I did not know the area, I sought help in a nearby restaurant. One of the workers there accompanied me to a taxi point. I stopped a taxi and the worker gave the address to the driver. When he finished, he opened the back door bending towards my face. When I turned my face away from him, he pulled me by my neck so he could kiss my cheek. When I shouted at him, he ran away while the driver was astonished by what happened. I called my relative and told her what happened and she directed the driver to her house,” she told investigators.

The taxi driver, MZ, Bangladeshi, testified about what had happened in his car.

Police arrested SH, 29, Pakistani, who claimed that he had only put his hand on her shoulder and neck in a gesture of saying bye to the woman.
