Cleaner breaks into villa, molests sleeping teen

A Sri Lankan cleaner, accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Indian girl at knife point after breaking into her parent’s villa, was spotted by the victim at a nearby park 25 days after the crime, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.

On January 27, at around 2am, AK, 37, climbed the fence of a villa in Al Wuheida Street and tried to break the door but failed. Then he squeezed himself through a window to enter the villa.

“Since lights were on, I saw a knife in the hall. I grabbed it to scare whomever I may see in the villa,” admitted the accused.

He then opened a room’s door and saw two children. Then he moved onto the next room where he did not find anything to steal. But, he saw a 14-year-old girl sleeping in the room. He took a scotch tape from the room and put in to the girl’s mouth.

“I woke up and saw a scotch tape on my mouth. A man sitting next to me on the bed was pointing a knife at my neck. He asked me not to scream otherwise he would kill me. He then molested me. After sometime, he left the room. I put on my dress, locked the room’s door and phoned my father who was sleeping in the next room,” testified the victim MN, Indian student.

The girl told her father about the man in the room holding a knife who had just run away from her room. The father, NN, 47, manager, ran after the intruder but did not located him. However, when he returned to the hall, he spotted a gold earring, which did not belong to the family. He called police to inform about the intruder and about the earring.

After the police had left the villa, the girl then informed her mother that she was molested sexually by the intruder.

Nearly 25 days after the crime, the girl spotted her attacker in a nearby park. She took his picture and informed her parents. They called police to arrest the cleaner.

The accused admitted to the crime and the girl recongnised him when he’s shown to her via identification parade.

The cleaner is facing charges of sexually assaulting a girl at knifepoint, theft attempt and trespassing a family’s house against their will.

The court will reconvene on August 7.
