Two Emirati policemen allegedly asked a Moroccan woman, who was wanted for overstaying her visa, for sex in return for not arresting her.

MH, 22, corporal and MA, 26, policeman are also accused of seizing the passport of the woman whom they stopped late at night in Dubai’s Naif area, in order to ensure that she will answer their calls and offer them sex.

The victim FM, 34, told the police that at around 3.30am on February 5, she was with a Kuwaiti man in a taxi near a hotel in Naif.

“A police patrol car stopped and a policeman got off and asked for my ID. I presented my passport and he checked my name and then returned it to me and told me that I am wanted for violating visa rules.

“The two policemen asked me to allow them have sex with me in return for not arresting me and asked me to do that on the following day. I refused and told them that I can only be a friend.  One of them said some Moroccan women, whom he had stopped, did not answer his phone calls after promising sex with him.

“Then one of them called their colleague in the police station. The man spoke to me in the Moroccan dialect and I told him that I had come to the UAE to look for a job and help my parents. Their colleague told them to let me go,” testified the victim.

The two policemen, however, refused to return the woman’s passport to ensure that she will meet them and they let her go after taking her mobile number. On the next day, the woman called the police and informed them about the incident. Police asked her to carry on with them in order to help trap them.

One of the two policemen, MH, called the woman and told her that he had agreed with his colleague that he alone will have sex with her. MH also promised to return her passport after having sex with him.

He called her 22 times over three days to set up a meeting with her and to agree in which hotel to meet for sex. She agreed to meet him on Friday in Qusais. He came to the hotel and the police, who had recorded his phone calls and conversations with the woman, arrested him.

MH admitted to the deal he had made with the woman and that he had seized her passport. The rules ban policemen from accompanying wanted women to the police station in their car.

“If the wanted person is a woman, a woman police patrol should be sent to the scene to accompany them,” said First Lieutenant Ali Ghanem.

The colleague of the two accused repeated corroborative testimony of the victim and said that when he spoke to her, she told him that she will amend her status in the country.

The two admitted before investigators to blackmailing the woman by asking her for sex against not arresting her and returning her passport

However, MH, who alone appeared before the court, denied the accusation and the court will reconvene on June 29.
