Deported for having an affair

The UAE’s top court upheld a lower court sentence to jail a man for two months and deport him from the UAE, after he was found guilty of having an affair with a woman.

A Court of FirstInstance had earlier sentenced the man to one year in prison and ordered his deportation on adultery charges, prompting him to appeal the verdict.

A Court of Appeals later reduced the jail sentence to two months but kept the deportation order. The man then appealed with the Supreme Federal Court, which upheld that sentence.
