Drug runner tries to soak up the cocaine

The Dubai Court of Appeal today upheld ten years jail sentence awarded by the First Instance Criminal Court to a Turkish visitor for smuggling 53Kgs of cocaine in cloths soaked with the liquefied drug.

The 32-year-old JK was also ordered to pay Dh100,000 fine and deportation after serving his jail term.

According to the records, Corporal Ali Sultan testified that the suspected passenger arrived on July 18, at around 1.30am at Dubai International Airport.

“The worried passenger said that he arrived from Brazil and he denied having any luggage. Later, he collected two bags. On opening them, cocaine smell blew from his cloths,” he testified.

When appeared before the Court the accused denied carrying cloths soaked with cocaine.
