Abu Dhabi Police has arrested a Pakistani youth for committing arson by burning down eight vehicles and a caravan costing hundreds of thousands of dirhams.
Polices said MAQ, 23 years old, set fire to four trucks, two buses, two tankers and an off-road vehicle at night while the vehicles were parked for the night in sandy areas near the town of Ghayathi.
Colonel Ojeil Ali Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of the Western Region Police, said the arrested person torched the vehicles randomly while he was drunk and did not have any grudge against the owners of the vehicles.
No one was injured.
Owners of the burnt vehicles did not know the suspect personally who worked as a taxi driver and had been dismissed from his job recently.
