A Gulf national is accused of blackmailing an Arab man by making the latter believe he is a woman and getting him to send nude photos, Al Bayan newspaper has reported.

The accused used social network sites to carry out his elaborate scheme.

The victim informed the police that the accused deceived him, claiming he is a woman.

After the victim sent in the naked pictures, the accused started to send him messages saying that he will post them on social networking sites if he did not send him $5,000 and a diamond ring.

The victim filed a police complaint and a sting operation was set up.

The victim agreed with the accused to meet in Mirdif City Center, where the police officials arrested the accused.

The police referred the case to the Dubai Public Prosecution, which in turn referred it to the criminal court.
