Three people confined, assaulted and threatened a salesman for four days to force him to return Dh52,000 that one of his acquaintances had stolen, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On November 13, while RD, 27, was working, his employer MR, 27, asked him about the whereabouts of his acquaintance ‘S’ who worked in another shop owned by the employer.

“When I told him that I don’t know, he beat me up and locked me in a room. He also told me that I must pay Dh52,000 that S had stolen from his shop or he will kill me. My employer and co-workers AM and AA   beat me up with sticks to force me do that,” said the victim.

On November 17, the accused drove the victim to Al Ain and when they did not find ‘S’, they beat him up.

The victim called MD and told him that he had been confined by his employer and that he is in Al Ain and asked him to arrange Dh50,000 to get him released or he would be taken to Sharjah where his life will be in danger.

MD informed the victim and his confiners that he will bring the amount and asked for their location.

MD was asked to go to the parking lot of a hospital in Al Ain.

“When I reached there, two people ran away from the car, while the driver, who was the employer, drove away with the victim,” testified MD.

MD called the police who stopped the car and arrested the employer. Later, police arrested the other two co-workers who were all Indians.

The three denied the charges and the court will reconvene on March 28.
