Etisalat branch in Ras Al Khaimah has accused an Asian employee of stealing 11 iPhone handsets but the man denied the charges, saying the company has lost them, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

Etisalat told court that the employee stole the smart phones and some pre-pay call credit cards during his work at its branch in a shopping mall in the northern emirate.

Bu the defence lawyer rebuffed such claims, saying the company lost those handsets two months before it filed a law suit against the employee.

“The company’s delay in reporting the missing phones raises many questions…I have information that the company had investigated the case and found that my client is not responsible for their loss,” the lawyer told court.

The lawyer asked court to acquit his defendant but the judge decided to adjourn hearings to April 15.
