Fake cops jailed one year in Khorfakkan

A court in Khorfakkan sentenced two men to one year in prison after they were convicted of posing as police to harass women in eastern UAE port.

The two, an Emirati and an Asian expatriate, had confessed to deceiving some women by posing as detectives to take their mobile phone numbers and calling them later.

Police arrested the two men after an Asian woman reported that they stopped her in a public place and asked for her mobile phone number after telling her they are cops.

“The court sentenced them to one year in prison in charges of posing as policemen and harassing women,” the Arabic language daily ‘Al Ittihad’ said.
