Brigadier Dr Mohammed Al Murr, Director, Human Rights at the Dubai Police says the administration have discussed the case of an Indian fashion designer alleging that she was raped and forced into prostitution.

The woman, in her police complaint filed in Mumbai, India, alleges she was lured to the emirate by another Indian woman on the promise of a job and then forced into prostitution.

Brigadier Al Murr said that since the crime is of a trans-national nature, it is the right of the victim to make a complaint in either one of the countries.

“Because the victim filed a complaint with the Indian police, Dubai Police are waiting for the results of the investigations now being conducted by the Indian police.”

He said that the Indian authorities could pursue the matter after that through diplomatic channels between the two countries.
