A court of appeals in Fujairah ordered a foreign employer to pay Dh100,000 penalty after he was found guilty of hiring two workers who are not sponsored by his firm.
The court upheld a previous verdict by the Court of First Instance fining the firm manager Dh100,000 for violating labour rules in the UAE.
The two expatriate workers were caught by labour inspectors visiting construction sites in the emirate as part of routine inspection of companies to ensure their compliance with labour regulations in the country.
The court also fined the two workers Dh1,000 and ordered their deportation from the UAE for abusing the country’s labour law.
