Four Pakistanis who were caught hiding electric wires they had stolen from a construction site under a pile of clothes in their car, were sentenced to one year in prison.

The convicts were also ordered to be deported after serving their jail terms by the Dubai Criminal Court of Frist Instance.

According to the records, at around 3am last December 5, Corporal Nasser Abdullah stopped a car that he suspected. A driver and a passenger were in the vehicle.

“I asked the driver for the car’s registration paper and his driving licence. I noticed a big pile of clothes on the back seat of the car, so I asked them about it. When they told me that these were laundry clothes, I noticed that electric wires were hidden by the clothes. I did not ask them about the wires but sought police support. I continued talking to them until support arrived.

“We asked them to open the trunk of the car. We found that it was filled with such a large quantity of electric wires that some of them were hanging out. When questioned about the source of the wires, they admitted to breaking into stores. They confessed that they had burgled about 40 shops with the help of other accomplices who used other cars. They admitted selling the cables and wires in Sharjah,” testified the officer.

Police arrested JI, 32, cargo worker, MB, 26, driver, AM, 37, assistant, and MK, 21, assistant mechanic, all of whom admitted to theft.
