Four students tried to kill an Indian worker in an attempt to steal Dh50 and a mobile phone, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Thursday.
One of the students is being tried in Juvenile Court.
FZM, above 18, Pakistani, NNM, 19, Pakistani, and HD, 19, Indian, and MAA (juvenile), are under trial for theft and murder attempt.
According to the court records, the accused entered the flat of Tamim Al Ansari, 36, Indian worker, and stabbed him in his back as he refused to give them money. They stole Dh50 and a mobile phone and ran away.
The victim told the court that four people entered his flat… surrounded him and asked him for money. As he refused, one of them stabbed him in his back and then tried to stab him in his chest.
“I managed to grab his hand but the knife wounded my hand. At that time the rest of boys were searching me and stole Dh50 and my Nokia mobile,” he testified.
Mohammed Farooq, 30, Indian, Coordinator, testified that he received a call from an unidentified person telling him that my roommate is in a bad condition and asked me to go to a nearby clinic in Karama. “As I arrived there I saw my friend bleeding and told me about the incident.”
After investigating the incident, police reached to the accused who confessed to their crime, testified police officers.
First policeman Anjam Suhail testified that HD was arrested at Sharjah International Airport and referred to Dubai Police. HD confessed to agreeing with the rest to rob the victim and his role was to stay in the car and wait to help flee from the scene. “When they finished, FZM went out of the building holding a knife in his hand with blood stains,” HD testified to the policeman.
FZM confessed to taking a knife as well as HD. They both stabbed him while the other two searched and stole the stuff.
NNM repeated the same testimony and confessed that he helped FZM in stabbing the victim by freezing his movement.
MAA confessed to helping FZM and HD to stabbing the victim.
The victim recognised the accused and pointed at FZM as the one who stabbed him when shown to him in an identification parade. Police found stolen stole mobile from FZM.
Forensic reported that the stab in the left side of the victim’s back went deep to his chest and is considered fatal.
The court adjourned the case for verdict till January 30.
