Groper of 5-year-old girl gets 6 months in jail

A supermarket salesman who groped a five- year old girl in her building’s corridor was sentenced to six months in prison followed by deportation by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

At around 12.30pm, the little girl opened the door of her house, telling her mother that she will play in the corridor with other neighbour.

“After about 10 minutes, I opened the door to see her playing with other girls but did not see her. One of the neighbour’s door was open, so I looked in but she was not there too. As I came out of the neighbour’s house, I saw the supermarket salesman hugging her at the end of the corridor. When I shouted and screamed, he ran away,” AS, the 28-year-old Afghan mother, told police.

The little girl told her mother that the accused had groped her private parts.

Police arrested SM, 23, who admitted to the offence.
