Groping financial analyst jailed 3 months

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance found an Indian financial analyst guilty of molesting his co-worker when she was preparing tea in the work place kitchen and sentenced him to three months in prison.

The court also ordered KA, 40, to be deported after serving his jail term.

According to the records, the 27-year-old victim, DB, Indian, was preparing tea in the kitchen at the work place when the accused entered the room and groped her.

“I shouted at him and rushed out of the kitchen, heading to the lift. The accused got into the lift after me and touched my face and head. When the door opened on the second floor, I rushed to my senior and told her what the accused had done. When my senior did not take any action, I went to HR and reported the incident," said the victim.

“The HR manager confronted the accused with my complaint and he admitted to what he did. The HR manager promised to penalise the accused but as she did not do anything for two weeks, I lodged a complaint with the police,” testified the victim.

The HR manager testified that the accused had admitted to groping his co-worker but claimed that it was accidental and, being a friend, he did that without any bad intention.

“We issued him a warning not to do that in future or he would be dismissed from work,” she testified.

The accused told the police that he had accidently touched the victim in the kitchen and that he had touched her face when they were in the lift in a gesture of  allowing her to get out of the lift before him.
