Abu Dhabi Police have arrested one person, identified as PMP, in a fake female hand-bag scam.
The women's bags seized in the arrest are fakes of famous brands, Al Bayan reports.
A raid was conducted on an apartment after investigations confirmed suspicious activity in the area.
The accused under interrogation revealed that he sold the bags for Dh100-Dh200, but they were all fake.
He also claimed that some of the purses he had bought 10 years ago and did not know they were counterfeits, the report adds.
In conclusion, Lieutenant Colonel Taher Al Dhaheri Chief of the Organised Crime Section at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), called upon consumers to buy from authorised agents and distributors to make sure they buy authentic products, and preserve their rights as consumers against commercial fraud.
He also encouraged community members to communicate with competent authorities to know their rights as consumers, and receive awareness-raising brochures, so as to take part effectively in curbing commercial fraud.
