Jail for man who ran prostituti​on, gambling den

The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld one year jail term issued against Chinese who was convicted guilty of running a villa as prostitution and a gambling den by the First Instance Court.

HZ, 34, will be deported after serving his jail term.

The same court upheld the acquittal of other four Chinese women identified as: YJ, 25, who holds a student visa and other four visiting women YJ, 31, HY, 30 and ZC, 24 and had been accused by the Prosecution of practicing prostitution.

According to the records, Police had discovered the den after brawl occurred in the villa which was rented by a jobless Chinese HZ.

At 4.45am on Thursday May 23, Dubai Police Operation Room received a complaint about a knife assault happened in a villa.

Second Lieutenant Khalfan Abdullah was rushed to the scene with other colleagues in a police patrol.

“We arrived at the villa and other senior officers arrived too. HZ, 34 sustained head wound caused of a knife attack. Upon the request of the seniors, the two floors villa which had 9 rooms in addition to a hall in each floor was searched. It was found out that some rooms were turned into bars and gambling clubs. There were a large quantity of drinks in the rooms and the kitchen. We also confiscated a quantity of condoms and more than Dh30,000 in addition to notebooks where alcohol and prostitution records were registered.

HZ admitted to running a prostitution and gambling den to the favour of a fugitive identified as BO.

Police arrested YJ, 25, who holds a student visa, and other four visiting women identified as YJ, 31, HY, 30 and ZC, 24.

HZ recognized the women when shown to him in identification parades.
