Maid accused of theft from employer’s house
A 20-year-old Ethiopian maid, KJS, started creating problems for her employer to get out of the house after stealing valuables, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
The employer SHH, 35, Emirati housewife, testified that she recruited the maid to work in her house and everything was fine until she noticed that Dh35,000 and watch worth Dh6,500 were missing.
“I noticed that the maid had become aggressive in her behaviour and speech recently. On December 8, she packed her bags. When I asked her about the reason, she assaulted me. I kicked her out of the house and called the police. Police searched her bag and found a ring belonging to my friend who had lost it in my house two months ago. Police also found a bracelet and ear-ring that had been kept in a safe in my bedroom,” she testified.
Policeman Abdul Rahman Hassan testified that police received a complaint about a theft in a villa in Mirdif area. When confronted, the housemaid confessed to stealing from her employer’s house, he added.
The court will give its verdict on January 30.
