Maid acquitted of attempt to kill two kids

A court in Ras Al Khaimah acquitted an Asian housemaid of charges of trying to kill her employer’s two children but sentenced her to one year in prison for practicing witchcraft.

The maid was arrested after her Emirati employer told police that she was involved in magic work in an attempt to control him and that she added sedatives to his two sons’ food to make them sleep quickly.

The man reported the maid to the police after his two sons fell ill and were taken to hospital for having sedatives.

“The man told police he also discovered that his maid is involved in sorcery in a bid to control him so he will obey her and meet all her demands,” Alkhaleej daily said.
