Maid who stole Dh100,000 from employer jailed
A Filipina housemaid who stole from her employer’s house a total of Dh100,000 was sentenced to three months in jail followed by deportation by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.
MKB, 28, was accused by the Dubai Prosecution of stealing cash from her employer’s house.
Saeed Rahim, 39, Iranian manager, testified that the accused worked for his family in his house on Palm Island as a maid.
“My wife and I noticed cash missing sometimes but we did not suspect the maid as our relations with her was good. On October 10, we decided to mark our money and we did so. Two days later, we found missing my Dh2,000 and my wife’s Dh3,000. Immediately we searched the maid’s purse and we found the marked notes with her. Confronting her, she confessed to stealing a total of Dh100,000 during her stay with us,” he testified.
