The UAE’s top court ordered a man to pay Dh755,000 damages for the family of a child who suffered from a permanent disability after the defendant tried to kill him.
The Federal Supreme Court (FSC) in Abu Dhabi found the defendant guilty of shooting at the boy with the aim of killing him, the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej reported.
The boy’s mother had demanded around Dh2.55 million damages from the defendant for trying to kill her son and causing permanent disability to him.
But a court set damages at Dh755,000, prompting the mother to appeal the sentence, which was upheld by FSC, the paper said without giving other details.
