An Egyptian security guard allegedly killed his Nepali flat mate, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
On December 18, while the victim DK was lying down, the accused SS, 45, attacked the victim with knife and stabbed him on his chest and belly.
DK tried to resist SS but could not avoid the stabs. He tried to escape and rushed to the door and screamed for help.
Co-workers staying in the adjacent flats of a building in Al Nahda area, heard the screams and rushed to the flat.
"My flat mate and I heard screams, we opened the door and saw our co-worker DK was lying in a pool of blood on the floor. So we started screaming for help and others rushed to the victim," testified SA, 29, Nepali waitress.
Other co-worker and a neighbour corroborated testimonies.
The watchman was notified by the residents and police was called.
When the police arrived they found SS sitting on the sofa and smoking cigarette. They also confiscated the weapon with which he attacked.
The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
SS gave different reasons why he killed DK all due to old disputes.
First Lieutenant Ahmad Mohammed testified, "He told me that he intended to kill DK and if he had the chance, he would have beheaded him as he suspected that the victim had sexually assaulted him while he was sleeping."
The accused admitted before the prosecution that one day someone sexually assaulted him while he was sleeping so he decided to take revenge by killing the assaulter.
As he finished his work on December 18, he went back home and consumed alcohol. Later DK arrived home and after taking his lunch, he laid on the sofa holding his tablet.
SS decided that was the right time to kill him. He thought of hitting him with the alcohol bottle, but then thought it would not kill him. So, he went in the kitchen and got a knife. And as he came close to the victim, SS surprised DK with several quick stabs while the victim was trying to resist him.
The Dubai Prosecution asked the court to execute the accused for the circumstances of the crime.
SS is accused of premeditatedly killing his co-worker by plotting and planning for that.
Before the court, SS admitted to killing DK but denied planning for that saying that he attacked him and only at that moment he wanted to end his life.
"I did not plan that ahead of time," SS told the jury and asked to see a psychiatrist.
The court will reconvene on February 28 and decided to appoint a defence lawyer for SS.
