An Arab man used a kitchen knife to murder his ageing father while a similar tool was used by a Gulf husband to kill his wife in two separate murders in Abu Dhabi, the emirate’s CID chief was quoted on Thursday as saying.
Colonel Rashid Bursheed said the two murders were around 25 days within each other and described the son as mentally unstable.
He told local newspapers that the 30-year-old son, identified as MA, stabbed his 68-year-old father in the chest at his house in the Tourist Club area in the capital, killing him instantly. He said police arrested the killer inside his apartment.
“The killer appeared to be psychologically unstable as his family said he had undergone treatment and has a file at a psychiatry clinic,” he said.
Bursheed said the second murder took place at an apartment on the Corniche seaside road, where a 45-year-old man from another Gulf country stabbed his wife to death.
He said police called to the scene found the 45-year-old victim, AA, lying dead in a pool of blood while her 45-year-old husband, identified as MR, was still inside the flat.
Bursheed did not elaborate on the motives of the killers but said police were still investigating the two cases.
