Man kills self on road after stabbing baby

An African man in his 30s went berserk and tried to murder his 8-month-old son and his neighbour before stabbing himself to death in the middle of the road in Dubai.
 
The man, apparently suffering from mental illness, tried first to strangle his baby at home in Barsha neighbourhood but his wife assaulted him to defend her son before screaming for her neighbour to help them.
 
As the neighbour rushed and tried to interfere, the African stabbed him in the belly before chasing him out and stabbing him in the back.
 
A driver who happened to be passing in that area unleashed his car horn to attract passers-by.
 
“The African then stabbed himself to death…he had stabbed his son in the feet and stabbed his neighbour twice before stabbing himself to death,” said Major-General Khalil Al Mansouri, Assistant Police Commander for Criminal Investigation.
 
He said the baby and the African’s neighbour both suffered from light to medium injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
 
“His wife told us that her husband started to suffer from psychological problems a few months ago and that she decided to return home after his condition worsened and he began threatening her and their son,” he said.
 
“She said that she was waiting for her passport from the embassy to travel with her son but that her husband’s condition was getting worse before he attacked them yesterday.”
