Man tries to smuggle out woman, son in car boot

An Asian man tried to smuggle a woman and her son out of the UAE by locking them in his car boot, endangering their lives, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Customs men at a border point in the country found the Asian mother and her son exhausted inside the locked boot after a long trip.

A court in Abu Dhabi sentenced the three to three months in prison and ordered their deportation from the UAE, according to the Arabic language daily ‘Al Bayan’.

The prosecutor had demanded a tougher punishment for the smuggler on charges of violating immigration laws and endangered the lives of the woman and her son.
