Dubai’s police arrested a visiting Arab woman and her daughter after they were caught on camera stealing expensive items from Emirates Mall.
Her husband told police he had taken his wife to shop at the sprawling mall almost daily but was not aware she was stealing.
Security cameras showed the two veiled women were inside a clothes shop when a famous brand dress, with an estimated value of Dh125,000, disappeared.
They two were also seen in a watch shop in the mall when a Dh13,000 watch was snatched on January 26, according to 'Emarat Al Youm' daily.
Three days later, the woman and her daughter returned to the mall and targeted a sunglass shop, with a loot of more than Dh50,000.
“They were later arrested and they confessed to the thefts after police found the sunglasses with them,” the paper said, quoted a police official.
“They said they are not professional thieves and that they were only tempted by the value of the items…the father said he did not know his wife was stealing although he had taken her to the mall almost daily.”
