Ras Al Khaimah’s Department of Traffic and Patrol Police has seized around 200 motorcycles for violating traffic rules in the emirate.

Ministry of Interior has launched a campaign at the country level which will continue for three months with the aim of maintaining security and stability of the society and its members.

Colonel Ali Saeed Al Elkum, Acting Director of Traffic and Patrols Department of RAK Police, said the campaign was carried out in different parts of the emirate to arrest traffic violators, drivers without licence, not wearing helmet and bikes which didn’t carry identification papers from the Customs Department.

Colonel Ali said it’s because of the irresponsibility on the part of some parents as they allow their children to ride bicycles on roads and in residential neighborhoods, thereby causing an inconvenience to residents and putting their lives at risk.

He said police have organised many campaigns over the years against motorcycle violators due to an increase in complaints from the residents and obstructing traffic flow.

He appealed parents to pay attention to this to protect lives of their children and the need to adhere to traffic rules in order to avoid traffic accidents and mortalities.
