The Sharjah Police have arrested an Afghan national for murdering of his wife and disposing her body in a sandy area near the Sharjah Industrial area.
The Sharjah Police were notified on Friday evening after a passerby saw the dead body and contacted the police.
Police patrols arrived immediately and found the woman, in her 20s, with multiple stab wounds to various parts of her body.
The Criminal Investigation Department immediately launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the Afghan national – her husband.
The suspect he confessed that the victim was his wife whom he married a few months ago.
The man in his confession to the police stated that that jealousy was the motive behind killing his wife and he accused her of illicit affairs with other men.
He added that they were constantly fighting.
He told the police that on the day he decided to kill her, he contacted her and told her to come and meet him at Industrial Area No 8 so that he could give her some money.
She went to the agreed location where he attacked her and stabbed her several times killing her.
When asked for his marriage contract, he said that he didn’t have a legal marriage certificate and that their marriage was a verbal contract.
Based on his confession the suspect is currently detained and will be referred to the Public Prosecution.
