Sharjah Police in collaboration with the Municipality and Civil Defence arrested a gang specializing in robbing and illegally filling expired cooking gas cylinders.

The group comprised six suspects, including one Pakistani and five Afghani nationals, who stole LPG cylinders and transported them to a farm at Al Madam. There they re-filled the cylinders and sold them to commercial outlets at higher prices.

Sharjah Police was acting on a reliable tip-off they received about the gang’s operations.

Police confiscated 134 cylinders belonging to various companies, four gas measuring scales and tubes for filling gas cylinders.

The gang confessed to their crime.

All six suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Sharjah Police urged public and commercial outlets not to deal with unknown gas cylinder distributors and buy cylinders only from authorised companies.
