An Asian sorcerer who outwitted scores of women in Dubai by claiming he can heal them of difficult illnesses to take their money was finally outwitted by a police woman who posed as a patient.

Police sent him the female undercover after learning that the man targets woman in his witchcraft activity that lasted over three years before he was seized by a surrounding police force while in session with the undercover.

The man had eluded authorities all that period as he was continuously moving to new houses and changing his mobile phone numbers, apparently knowing that he was involved in fraud and other illegal activities.

Police said he was charging Dh5,000 per session which involves only handing the victim a piece of paper in the form of a talisman.

Besides the talisman, he was also giving a list of item to be bought by the victims from a specific shop, which turned out to be an accomplice.

“Our agent went to him and told him she has problems…he charged her Dh5,000 but she told him she had only Dh2,000.…he agreed to treat her but insisted that must bring the remaining sum at a next session” said Colonel Abdul Rahim Shafei, head of the organized crime division at the Dubai department of detectives and criminal investigation.

“After she paid him, he gave her a wrapped piece of paper and asked her to hide it at home…he then gave her that list of items….once all this was done, our men waiting outside swooped inside and arrested him.”

Quoted by Emirat Alyoum Arabic language daily, Shafei said police searching the sorcerer’s house found many items used in magic, including pieces of paper and cloth, threads, incense, nails and horse tail hair.
