Students in Dh47,845 Dubai grocery heist

Two students allegedly broke into a grocery and stole a safe containing Dh32,470 and 345 etisalat phone cards worth Dh15,375, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The accused are identified as FMR, 24, Emirati and FAA, 20 Iranian.

SAM, 36, Iranian salesman testified that on September 27 at around 6.30am he went to open the grocery.

“I was shocked to see the door and all locks were broken and immediately called the police.

“When the police arrived I found out safe which contained cash and goods worth Dh47,845 in total value missing,” he testified.

Police investigated the theft and arrested the two accused who confessed to the crime.

The police found the safe and tools used in the break-in in the house of the first accused, police officer Hamad Eid testified.
