A teenaged girl is on trial in UAE for lodging a false complaint of rape with the police.

The 15-year-old Arab girl complained to the police that she was raped by three young men but the forensics report said she had lost her virginity a long time ago,  Brigadier Ahmad Thani bin Ghalaita, director  of Al Qusais police station in Dubai, told the Arabic daily newspaper Al Ittihad.

A police investigation also confirmed that she was practicing sex in return for money.

Brigadier Bin Ghalaita said the teenaged girl came to the police station and filed a complaint that three men had taken turns in assaulting her sexually.

He said the young girl was then subjected to a forensic examination which proved that she had lost her virginity long ago.

On questioning, the girl admitted that she had agreed to have sex with the three youths in return for Dh2,000 and an iPhone.

However, after sex, the youth refused to give her the agreed amount, which enraged her and led her to fabricate the rape story and lodge a false police complaint.

Bin Ghalaita said the case has been referred to the public prosecution which has charged her with illicit relationship and having sex with men in return of money.

Meanwhile, the mother of the girl was shocked after it was discovered that her daughter had practiced prostitution for years.

The girl’s father refused to come to the police station out of shame.

Brigadier Bin Ghalaita Ahmed called on parents to monitor their children and build bridges of trust with them.

He pointed out that most of the cases received by the police station are family disputes about child custody or being absent from home or beatings, verbal abuse and insults.

He said lack of attention from parents and the absence of the father and mother at home has great negative influence on children.
