A Georgian visitor allegedly stole jewellery from a house in Discovery Gardens which he then buried in the sand opposite Jumeirah Beach Park, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Following a number of theft complaints by tenants, police investigations led to three people.

Police arrested LK, 28, at his residence in Naif. Searching his flat, police found gold hidden underneath his bed. The accused admitted to stealing gold from flats with the help of the other two.

However, when confronted with the theft in the flat in Discovering Gardens, LK told police that he had committed the crime alone. When asked about the gold he stole from that house, LK guided police to a sandy area opposite to Jumeirah Beach Park where he had buried them.

Police retrieved the gold that the two theft victims CM and LA recognised.

The Court will reconvene on January 18.
