Dubai Police traced a salesman who used a mobile phone six months after stealing it.
MM, 53, Jordanian, accompanied her two friends to a garment ship in Ibn Battuta mall.
“In the shop, I tried on a pair of trousers but put it back in the fitting room. My friends and I got out of the shop and went home. In my house, I remembered that I had forgotten my mobile phone in the trousers. I rushed with my friends to the mall which is 15 minutes away from my house,” she told the police.
The three women searched the fitting room for the trousers, but did not find it.
Asking salesmen in the shop, all denied finding the mobile phone, so the women called the police.
Police arrived and searched the shop and asked the salesmen, but did not find anything.
About six months after the incident, police contacted MM and asked her to come and collect her mobile.
Police found out that AJ, 27, salesman in the same shop, used the mobile phone using his own SIM card.
He connected the mobile to the Internet and used all programmes on the mobile as if it was his own.
AJ admitted to the crime and said that he found the mobile in a pair of trousers in the fitting room.
“I put it in a bag and took it home without informing anyone in the shop,” he admitted.
Prosecution noted that the accused was arrested after using the mobile which was in his possession.
The court will give verdict on April 12.
