Thieves sold Dh65,000 minibus for Dh10,000

Two Pakistanis allegedly broke into a Toyota min bus valued at Dh65,000 and drove it to Al Madam where they sold it to an Omani for Dh10,000, the Dubai Criminal Court head.

The driver had stopped the mini bus in a parking lot near a school in Hor Al Anz area in the evening but did not find it there next day morning. He informed the police

Police found out that one of the suspects, AA, was already in detention in other theft case. AA denied any connection with the theft when questioned by the police.

However, police arrested his accomplice SS, 36, driver, who admitted to the theft and that his partner was AA. SS admitted that he and his accomplice broke into the vehicle, managed to start the engine and drove it to Al Madam area where they met JS, Omani visitor who bought it for Dh10,000. The driver recognised his partner when shown to him via identification parade.

The Prosecution noted that the two accused had a similar criminal record and had been found guilty in two cases.

The Court will reconvene on February 12.
