Two men, along with a fugitive, allegedly attacked a salesman in a shop at Al Satwa and stole Dh65,000 from the shop in addition to Dh3,000 from the victim after claiming to be CID officers, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On November 18, MA, 48, Pakistani, was alone in the shop in Al Satwa when three men entered and one of them presented an ID and claimed to be CID.

“The one who claimed to be CID presented a passport photocopy of a Pakistani and asked me if I know him. When I denied knowing him, he asked the other man for the chain. The later answered him that it is in the car. He pulled a rope from his pocket and tied my hands but I could release my hands. So he tied my left hand to the chair,” the victim told investigators.

The three searched the shop and stole Dh65,000 and before leaving, they snatched Dh3,000 from the victim’s pocket.

“I could release my hand and ran behind them, calling on people for help,” the victim said

The public caught two of them but the third, who posed as CID, ran away.

Police arrived and arrested FS, 20, Indian blacksmith and AS, 32, Pakistani driver.

The court will reconvene on February 21.
