Top court backs hurt worker with damages

The UAE’s top court supported an expatriate worker who suffered a permanent disability after an on-site accident and ordered his employers to pay him Dh472,000 damages, newspapers said on Thursday.

The unidentified man was on duty at an outdoor construction site when he fell down from a high floor at a building under construction. He was seriously injured and suffered from multiple fractures and permanent disability.

The worker had demanded damages of more than Dh550,000 but the Federal Supreme Court upheld a previous court sentence which set compensation at Dh472,000 covering treatment and disability damages, according to the press, which did not identify the employers and the location.
