Two jobless Chinese were sentenced to two years in jail for breaking into a flat of compatriots and stealing Dh400,000 in cash, some gold jewellery and an expensive watch.
The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered BG, 28, and KE, 36. to be deported after serving their jail term.
According to the records, the victims, JY and FZ, informed the police on March 24, 2013, about the theft in their house. Dh400,000, a watch worth Dh29,000 and a bracelet in addition to some ID cards were stolen from their flat.
The lock of the flat’s door and the drawers in the bed room were broken.
Police investigated the complaint and identified BG and FA, 36, as suspects.
Police arrested the two and confiscated from their accommodation the tools usually used to break into flats and shops. Police also confiscated a safe box from their house.
The two admitted to burgling this flat in addition to other thefts they committed together with another person.
