UAE solider on trial for taking hashish

A 23-year-old UAE Armed Forces staffer allegedly possessed 0.36gms of hashish for personal use, the Dubai Criminal Court heard. HOS is also accused of taking hashish.

According to the records, the police got a tip off about the accused possessing and taking drugs.

Police arrested the suspect at around 11.45am on February 10.

Searching him, police did not find any banned items. However, searching his car police confiscated hashish hidden in a cigarette box and a knife with traces of burns on it, testified policeman Ahmad Mohammed. His urine test indicated presence of hashish, he added.

The court adjourned the case for verdict until May 8.
