Two Pakistani visitors, who tried to steal electric cables intended to light up the Warsan Lake area, were sentenced to three months in jail.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered FH and RH, both 23, to be deported after serving their jail terms.

According to the records, on December 19, at around 5.30am, security officer AD, 27, Indian, who in charge of safety and security in different clusters in International City as well as Warsan Lake, was roaming around in his car when he saw a pickup van with a driver parked near an electricity post in an enclosed area.

“I also saw a man holding in his hand an electric cable near the pickup. When I moved towards the van, the man outside the pickup got in quickly and the vehicle moved away at high speed. I followed and stopped the driver and called my colleague who informed the police,” AD told investigators.

The security officer found out that there were eight cables, each about 1.5 metres in length, in the pickup.

The two thieves apologised to the security officer, saying that they will not come to the area again and asked him not to inform the police.

Police arrived and arrested the two and confiscated the cables as well as the tool they used for cutting the them.
