Woman gets 10 years for killing maid in RAK

A court in Ras Al Khaimah sentenced an Emirati woman to 10 years in prison after she was convicted of beating her housemaid to death.

The woman had claimed her maid was ill and that she tried to save her but she died because of her illness.

But a report presented by the hospital to the court showed the maid was beaten to death by the woman, who then dumped her in the back garden.

The woman told court that she did not intend to kill her maid and that she thought the worker was pretending when she was groaning in pain.

“The medial report presented to the judge found that the woman did not intend to kill her maid when she beat her,” Emarat Alyoum daily said.
