Woman held for battering maid to death

Dubai Prosecution has referred a woman to the Dubai Criminal Court on the accusation of assaulting her house maid, causing her death, Dubai Attorney General Essam Issa Al Humaidan said.

Investigations were started by Head of Deira Prosecution Dr Kahlid Al Junaibi who revealed that the accused, who is detained, used to hear the maid’s screams and pleadings.

Neighbours testified that, SB, 35, whose nationality was not revealed, used to beat up her housemaid as they used to hear the accused shouting at the 21-year old deceased. They also used to very often hear the maid screaming in pain.

A relative of the victim testified before prosecutors that she very often saw the accused beating up the deceased with sticks, punching her with her fist and hitting her head against the wall.

The relative also said that the victim was usually injured by the employer’s assaults but she had never offered any medical treatment for her.

Forensic reported that death resulted from repeated assaults classified as torture.

The victim sustained many injuries over a considerable period of  time and since she was not given medical treatment, her health deteriorated, resulting in death.
