A worker allegedly attempted to kidnap a woman and threatened to kill her while entering her residential building, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
AV, 19, Indian businesswoman, noticed a man near her building but she did not give him much attention.
“When I entered the building, I was shocked when someone from behind put his hand around my waist and tried to pull me back. I screamed for help, but he gagged my mouth with his one hand and with his other hand around my neck, dragged me out of the building.
“Reaching the building’s steps, I fell and he fell with me. He got scared of pedestrians and stood up. Before leaving the place, he gestured with his finger asking me to shut my mouth and then he threatened to kill me with a gesture of his hand. I rushed into the building and entered my flat. It was the same man who had been standing near the building," the victim told investigators.
Police arrested ZA, 27, Bangladeshi worker and the victim recognised him.
Police found in the mobile of the accused pictures of the victim. He admitted to taking pictures of her to send them to his parents.
A medical report said the victim had bruises on her lower back.
The court will reconvene on January 31.
