Man claims to know magic to treat patients

Criminal Investigation branch of Sharjah Police arrested an Asian man on charges of 'witchcraft, sorcery and charlatanism'.

Department of Criminal Investigation received information of a man practicing witchcraft in his home in one of the areas in Sharjah.

He claimed to possess the power to treat mental illness, solve family issues such as marriage, divorce, reconcile between conflicting couples, bring marital happiness, heal people possessed by jinn and write prescriptions in exchange of money.

Police found out that the man worked in small scale and promoted his work through contacts among different nationalities.

The accused was arrested and several tools used to perform magic and charlatanism were confiscated from his house.

The accused confessed to the charges against him and was transferred to the public prosecution to complete the legal procedures against him.

Sharjah Police warned members of the community from dealing with these imposters, so as to avoid falling victim to such illegal practices and persons.

Residents have been urged to report any such cases by dialing 901 or 065 632 222.
