Two Egyptian workers cleaning a water tank suffocated to death after they used a petrol motor to siphon the dirt out, a newspaper reported on Monday.
A Saudi man who had asked them to clean his tank phoned the police and civil defence when they were late and could not answer his calls.
“He kept calling them but there was no reply…he climbed up the tank and saw them motionless…..he quickly phoned the police and civil defence,” Ajel Arabic language daily said in a report from the western town of Al Hawiya.
It said forensic examination showed the two died of asphyxia inside the 16-square-metre tank after inhaling smoke from the motor’s exhaust.
