A Saudi court ordered six women and five men lashed after they were caught at a mixed-gender booze party, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The three Saudi and three Moroccan women, as well as three Saudi and two Indian men were ordered lashed in prison after they were arrested at the party at an apartment in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah, 'Okaz' said.
Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice raided the flat and rounded up the 11 after they were tipped off by residents.
The paper said the judge sentenced the 11 to prison terms of between eight days and 14 months and to between 50 and 150 lashes each.
“They were charged with organising a mixed-gender party and having alcohol. The girls were also charged of assaulting the cops while they were drunk,” it said.
