Killer and rapist of woman is her husband’s nephew

A Sudanese man who was beheaded in Saudi Arabia this week for murdering a woman and raping her dead body is her husband’s nephew.

Abdul Rahman Zain Al Abidin was at his uncle’s home in Riyadh a day before he sneaked into the house, strangled his uncle’s wife while asleep and raped her body. He then stole SR165,000 (Dh162,000) and left after opening the gas cylinders to kill his little cousins who were asleep at home.

The court had sentenced him to death and crucifixion, prompting him to appeal. But the appeals court gave him the same sentence, which was upheld by the supreme court and endorsed by King Abdullah.

Zain Al Abidin was executed in public in the capital Riyadh on Friday and his body was hanged on a pole after execution.

“Yes the killer is the son of my sister…he did this to me although I brought him to Saudi Arabia, bought him a car and gave him money…he started to visit me quite often before he did this heinous crime,” his uncle Suleiman Abdul Malik told the Saudi Alriyadh daily.

He said the killer’s younger brother was an accomplice in the murder and was sentenced for 10 years in prison.

“Although I was glad that the killers were arrested, I was shocked to learn that they are my nephews…I am still under shock and undergoing treatment at a psychiatry clinic…I have isolated myself from all my relatives.”
