Pregnant housemaid tries to abort in street

An Indonesian housemaid in her seventh week pregnancy tried to abort her infant in the street after fleeing her employer in Saudi Arabia, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Thursday.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police, stopped the maid on the road in the western town of Taif after noticing her strange movements.

“She confessed that she is pregnant and trying to abort her infant…she was taken to hospital where doctors found she is in her seventh week pregnancy,” Sabq Arabic language daily said.

“She said she became pregnant after having a relationship with a man in the city….police are now searching for that man.”
